Dracula
October 9 - October 29, 2010
Atlantic City Ballet’s Dracula
Dracula, the ballet, was choreographed by Phyllis Papa in 2006 and is the signature ballet of the Atlantic City Ballet. Ed Wismer of the Cape May Star and Wave reviewed it as a “sumptuous and exciting production.” Ms. Papa has put together a thriller on the stage of high professional standards and incredible choreography. The ballet follows Bram Stoker’s story of Dracula. The story takes place in Eastern Europe when a young lawyer, Jonathan Harker is captured and imprisoned by Dracula. Dracula, after seeing a photograph of Jonathan’s fiancé’, Mina, goes to victimize her and her best friend Lucy Westenra. Dr. Van Helsing leads all on his crusade to free Mina and the world from Dracula. The ballet takes place in the 15th century, which is the time Dracula lived based on the story. This is a favorite among Ac ballet fans and is a must see.
